The whole 'don't give solutions' bit is weak... If a friend has a problem I’m helping fix it. Validation isn't gonna repair a blown transmission.

I would personally take that stat about first graders to heart. We get so biased as we age that we basically stop hearing what others have to say.

It seems absurd that children are better listeners. We accumulate so many biases that we eventually can't hear anything that challenges our worldview.
