After investigators traced disturbing online activity to Armin Meiwes’s farmhouse, a raid uncovered human remains and detailed digital evidence of a planned act. What followed raised a chilling question—was it manslaughter by consent, or calculated murder?
Ep 2:
Making of Armin Meiwes
As Armin Meiwes’s isolated childhood and inner world began shaping dark, long-held fantasies, the internet gave him a space to act on them. Repeated failed attempts didn’t stop him; they refined his approach until he found Bernd Brandes, his willing victim.
Ep 3:
The Voluntary Offering
As Armin Meiwes and Bernd Brandes began communicating online, their exchanges escalated from curiosity into a structured agreement built on repeated consent and shared fantasy. What followed was Brandes’s journey from Berlin to Rotenburg, where roleplay blurred into reality.
Ep 4:
Consent on Trial
Prosecutors argued intent and premeditation against Armin Meiwes, while the defense claimed consent. A manslaughter ruling in 2004 was overturned, leading to a 2006 retrial that imposed life imprisonment after psychiatric findings confirmed full awareness and fetish-driven fantasies.
